We are hiring on behalf of our IT support services client for an experienced Remote Senior Network & Security Engineer to join a long-term project. This is a fully remote opportunity, open to candidates based in the UK or Europe, with all work carried out during UK time zones.
The successful candidate will provide expert-level support across enterprise networking, security, and F5 application delivery infrastructure, working independently within a distributed environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and maintain secure enterprise networks using advanced routing and switching protocols, including BGP and OSPF.
- Configure and manage next-generation firewalls such as Cisco FTD/ASA and Palo Alto, including security policies, NAT, VPNs, and ACLs.
- Administer F5 BIG-IP platforms, including LTM, GTM/DNS, APM, and Advanced WAF.
- Configure and manage virtual servers, application pools, health monitors, and custom iRules.
- Implement SSL/TLS offloading, certificate management, and traffic optimisation.
- Provide remote troubleshooting and technical support for complex routing, firewall, and load-balancing incidents across multi-vendor environments.
- Develop and maintain High-Level Design (HLD) and Low-Level Design (LLD) documentation.
- Support distributed data centres and cloud infrastructure using remote collaboration tools such as Teams, Slack, and Zoom.
- Proactively identify and resolve issues within high-availability production environments.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Active CCIE certification in Enterprise Infrastructure or Security.
- Strong hands-on experience with F5 BIG-IP, including both hardware and Virtual Edition (VE) environments.
- Extensive knowledge of enterprise networking, including routing, switching, TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, and SSL/TLS.
- Strong experience administering enterprise firewall platforms, including Cisco and/or Palo Alto.
- Solid understanding of NAT, VPNs, ACLs, firewall policies, and security controls.
- Experience with F5 modules including LTM, GTM/DNS, APM, and Advanced WAF.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex, high-availability production environments.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and effectively in a 100% remote environment.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
