Location: Remote
Engagement: Part-Time / Fractional Executive Consultancy
We are hiring on behalf of our client for an experienced Fractional Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to provide strategic financial leadership on a part-time consultancy basis. This role is ideal for a seasoned finance executive who can strengthen financial operations, enhance commercial decision-making, and support the organisation’s long-term growth strategy.
Role Overview
The successful candidate will oversee key financial functions including budgeting, forecasting, treasury management, working capital optimisation, banking relationships, financial reporting, internal controls, and ERP system enhancement. While the in-house accounting team will continue to manage day-to-day accounting activities, the Fractional CFO will focus on financial strategy, performance analysis, governance, and executive-level decision support.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the company’s financial planning, annual budgeting, and rolling forecasting processes.
- Produce insightful monthly management reports, financial dashboards, and executive KPIs.
- Analyse financial performance across projects, customers, products, and business units to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Monitor cash flow, receivables, payables, inventory, and working capital to strengthen financial performance.
- Assess investment opportunities, capital expenditure proposals, and commercial initiatives.
- Support banking relationships, financing activities, and funding requirements.
- Improve financial processes, governance, internal controls, and reporting capabilities.
- Advise senior leadership on financial strategy and commercial decision-making.
- Optimise the organisation’s ERP system to improve automation, reporting, and business intelligence.
Expected Deliverables
The Fractional CFO will be responsible for delivering regular management accounts, budget variance analysis, cash flow forecasts, KPI dashboards, working capital reviews, quarterly business performance reports, financing updates, annual budgets, long-term financial plans, capital expenditure planning, and strategic finance recommendations.
Working Arrangement
The role works alongside the internal finance team, providing strategic oversight while allowing the accounting function to manage routine bookkeeping and statutory reporting. The successful candidate should be capable of working independently, proactively identifying financial risks and opportunities, and delivering agreed outcomes with minimal supervision.
Success Measures
Success in this role will be demonstrated through timely financial reporting, effective budgeting and forecasting, improved cash flow and working capital management, stronger financial controls, insightful management reporting, and strategic financial guidance that supports sustainable business growth.
