About the Opportunity
PartnerX is hiring on behalf of a confidential client, an established global multi-manager hedge fund, for experienced Portfolio Managers specialising in Technology, Media & Telecom (TMT) and Healthcare.
These Portfolio Manager opportunities in Dubai and London are suited to proven stock pickers with a demonstrable track record of generating alpha through fundamental, bottom-up research. The successful candidates will have the opportunity to run their own book within a PM-led platform with dedicated capital, sophisticated infrastructure and a disciplined approach to risk.
Our client operates a sector-specialist investment model, with individual PM teams focused on stock selection and idiosyncratic returns rather than broad market direction. Portfolios are managed with low net exposure and a strong emphasis on risk management.
The Role
As a Portfolio Manager, you will be responsible for managing a dedicated TMT or Healthcare long/short equity portfolio within the firm’s established risk framework.
Key responsibilities include:
- Generate idiosyncratic alpha through bottom-up fundamental analysis, supported by quantitative research and investment tools.
- Manage a market-neutral or low-net long/short equity portfolio through disciplined portfolio construction, position sizing and hedging.
- Develop and lead your own investment team, including analysts and supporting professionals.
- Manage portfolio risk within agreed limits, drawdown parameters and investment guidelines.
- Work closely with the firm’s research, risk, technology and operations functions.
- Maintain regular and transparent dialogue with platform leadership regarding performance, portfolio positioning and risk.
- Continuously evaluate investment opportunities, catalysts, valuations and sector developments within your specialist coverage area.
About You
We are looking for an experienced sector specialist with a strong and verifiable record of successfully managing capital.
You will ideally have:
- A demonstrable and verifiable track record managing a market-neutral or low-net long/short equity portfoliowithin TMT or Healthcare.
- Deep sector expertise and a strong understanding of fundamental research, valuation, equity markets and portfolio construction.
- A proven approach to risk management and experience operating within defined portfolio risk parameters.
- Previous experience within a hedge fund, multi-manager platform or sell-side principal strategies environment.
- The ability to demonstrate consistent investment performance and a clear investment process.
- Strong leadership skills and an entrepreneurial mindset, with the ability to build and develop a high-performing investment team.
- Senior Sub-PMs managing a carve-out with a verifiable track record will also be considered.
What the Client Offers
Platform: Access to a PM-led investment platform with sophisticated trading infrastructure, research capabilities and risk analytics tailored to individual investment strategies.
Capital: Access to dedicated capital and, for the right investment professionals, the opportunity to scale their strategy over time.
Partnership: Direct and regular engagement with platform leadership, providing strategic support and guidance through different market cycles.
Flexibility: The infrastructure, technology and operational support required to allow experienced PMs to focus on investment decisions and alpha generation.
Compensation
The client offers a competitive compensation package comprising a base salary and performance-linked remuneration, structured according to seniority, strategy and track record.
Compensation details will be discussed confidentially with shortlisted candidates.
