The Opportunity

Our client is seeking a proactive and experienced Health & Safety Officer to support the implementation and continuous improvement of Health, Safety, Environment, Quality, and Food Safety (QHSE) initiatives across their operations.

This role is ideal for a professional with experience in the FMCG, food manufacturing, retail, or distribution sectors who is passionate about creating a safe working environment, ensuring regulatory compliance, and promoting a strong safety culture throughout the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

As the Health & Safety Officer, you will play a key role in ensuring compliance with occupational health, safety, environmental, and food safety standards across multiple operational sites.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting the implementation and management of Health & Safety and Food Safety systems across retail, production, warehouse, and logistics operations.
• Ensuring compliance with UAE health, safety, environmental, and food safety legislation, as well as company policies and international standards.
• Developing, reviewing, and maintaining health and safety procedures, policies, and safe working practices.
• Conducting workplace inspections, safety audits, risk assessments, and hazard identification activities while recommending corrective and preventive actions.
• Investigating workplace incidents, accidents, and near misses, preparing reports, and ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
• Delivering health, safety, food safety, and emergency response training programmes to employees.
• Promoting a positive safety culture by increasing awareness and encouraging employee engagement in health and safety initiatives.
• Monitoring compliance with Permit-to-Work systems, PPE requirements, emergency preparedness, COSHH controls, and workplace safety procedures.
• Coordinating emergency drills and ensuring employees understand emergency response procedures.
• Maintaining accurate documentation relating to audits, inspections, incident reports, risk assessments, compliance records, and training activities.
• Working closely with department managers, supervisors, and operational teams to continuously improve safety performance across all facilities.
• Supporting HACCP implementation and ensuring food safety standards are maintained throughout retail and supply chain operations.
• Liaising with regulatory authorities, certification bodies, consultants, and external stakeholders during inspections and audits.
• Assisting in the implementation, maintenance, and continual improvement of the Integrated Management System (IMS), including ISO and other management system requirements.
• Preparing regular compliance and performance reports for senior management and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should possess:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Food Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• NEBOSH Certification.
• HACCP Level 3 certification (mandatory).
• Internal Auditor certification.
• Knowledge of ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and Integrated Management Systems (IMS).
• Advanced Food Safety qualification (Level 4) is advantageous.
• A minimum of three years’ experience in Health & Safety, Food Safety, Quality Assurance, or QHSE within the FMCG, food manufacturing, retail, distribution, or related industries.
• Strong understanding of UAE and international health, safety, environmental, and food safety regulations.
• Excellent analytical, organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• A valid UAE driving licence.
