The Opportunity

Our client is seeking an experienced Operations Engineer to join their permanent team covering London and the surrounding areas.

This is an excellent opportunity for a mechanically or electrically qualified engineer with strong experience working on gas or diesel engines. You will play an important role in maintaining critical energy generation equipment that helps customers improve operational performance while reducing environmental impact.

Key Responsibilities

As an Operations Engineer, you will be responsible for carrying out both planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs on customer installations throughout your designated region.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Performing scheduled servicing and emergency maintenance on power generation equipment.
  • Diagnosing faults quickly and carrying out effective repairs to minimise downtime.
  • Maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction through professional service delivery.
  • Supporting the operation and optimisation of customer systems to improve efficiency, reliability, and overall performance.
  • Identifying opportunities to enhance operational processes and reduce unnecessary time and material usage.
  • Ensuring all work is completed safely and in accordance with company procedures.

About You

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • An ONC, NVQ Level 2, City & Guilds Level 2, or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Motor Vehicle Studies, or a related discipline.
  • At least three years of hands-on industrial mechanical and/or electrical engineering experience as a qualified technician.
  • Strong technical knowledge of gas and diesel engine systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Good IT literacy, including experience using Microsoft Office applications.
  • A full UK driving licence.

Working Hours

Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm.

The role includes participation in a rotating 24-hour on-call schedule and may require occasional weekend and out-of-hours work.
